Pet urine must be wiped or mopped up immediately.
Do not allow it to sit on the coating. The longer the urine remains in contact with the floor, the greater the opportunity for it to penetrate through the coating and into the timber.
Rugs must also be checked regularly. A rug can hide repeated accidents while holding urine directly against the floor for extended periods.
Prevention comes down to four things:
Wipe or mop up urine immediately.
Check underneath rugs frequently.
Replace or clean contaminated rugs.
Choose a tougher, more durable coating system.
A stronger coating provides better protection, but no coating should be treated as permission to leave urine sitting on the floor.
